Cititour Review:

Hold onto your lederhosen, Black Forest Brooklyn in Fort Greene is everything you want in a German beer hall; a loud and boisterous crowd, large picnic tables and, yes, very tall glasses of beer.  There are no German barmaids, but you will find images of them on the exposed brick walls.

But it's not just about the atmosphere. The food is also first rate. Start off with a freshly-baked pretzel served with spicy mustard, or Flammkuchen, a flat bread cooked in a stone oven topped with things like smoked slab bacon, caramelized onions and sour cream.  Also on the menu, a nice selection of sausages and schnitzel. The pork schnitzel (also available in chicken or veal) is amazing and takes up an entire platter. The breading is nice and crisp with tender pork on the inside. It's served a ton of shoestring fries and a fresh garden salad.  We also shared a plate of Nurnberger sausages; plump little pork sausages served with garlic mashed potatoes and apple & wine brined sauerkraut.  Also worth getting excited about are the 16 types of German beer on tap, along with German wines, and craft cocktails with names like Berlin Mule and Das Frauline.

Black Forest Brooklyn won't break the bank.  It's fun and also family friendly during daylight hours. Wunderbar!
