There are bake shops and then there is Black Hound, an East Village shop turning out some of the most delectable treats. Each cake and pastry is picture perfect topped with beautifully designed marzipan flowers and the freshest of berries. The "Busy Bee" is the shop's signature cake. It's a chocolate and almond butter cake layered with chocolate mouse and a bittersweet chocolate frosting. The buzzing bees that dot the cake have marzipan bodies and almonds for wings. There are checkerboard cakes, a coconut cake filled with homemade lemon curd, chocolate cheesecake and too many others to list. One dessert that truly stood out to us is the Symphony Cup. It's a chocolate tea cup filled with Bavarian cream that is topped with fresh raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. It is almost too pretty to eat. -by Thomas RafaelCititour Review:
