Brooklynites, who want to be Manhattanites, flock to this Park Slope spot.It's cushy banquettes, bustling bar and fresh oysters provide the lure. The plateau de fruits de mer (tower of seafood) rivals what you'll find at places like Blue Water Grill. And a built-in wine cellar provides an ample supply of vino.
An appetizer of shrimp and chorizo adds a nice smoky flavor to the dish, while the oysters are fresh and the assortment abundant.
But other dishes fall short. The hanger steak was tough and overcooked. It was saved only by a healthy helping of crisp homemade onion rings, which would have served better as the meal. The salmon was a notch above, but not a giant leap. Similar complaints were heard from the next table about a lamb dish. The manager seemed to sense the trouble and was asking every table if their entrees were ok He offered me a few more pieces of steak. I graciously refused.
Mixed drinks are small for the $7.50 to $8 price-tag. Service was good, but our waiter had a bit of an attitude. At $140 for two (not including tip), please drop the tude. Remember, this is Brooklyn. Sorry, no blue ribbon here.
