Cititour Review:

New Yorkers are notoriously impatient. We want our fast-food fast. So it was with great interest that I happened upon Bon Bon Chicken, which has the guts to tell us all to just slow down. Bon Bon is a fried chicken joint with a schtick. It only uses natural ingredients and Bell and Evans chickens (extra fee) with the pay-off being that you'll have it cooked up fresh. The catch is you'll have wait least 15 minutes, which you are told before you order. And wait we did. Some folks read magazines and newspapers available by the counter. Others seemed to pace a bit, while other kept returning to the counter to see ask "is it ready yet?" So, is it worth the wait? There is no real menu to speak of, so what you're waiting for is a choice between chicken wings, legs or strips or a wings-and-legs combo. You can have it spicy or sweet with a side of cole slaw and a small roll. After patiently waiting my 15 minutes, I can honestly say the chicken is worth waiting for. We tried the wings, which are actually wingettes. There were eight pieces. Each was golden brown with a crispy coating arriving piping hot and very juicy. The coating was slightly sweet but not overbearing. The side of slaw had just a splash of vinegar. And the roll while good, would have been better if it was warmed up. Afterall, what's the rush!
