Cititour Review:
Breads Bakery has been expanding across New York City. One location is a kiosk inside Bryant Park in Midtown. Grab your favorite coffee drink; espresso, cappucino etc., and then stock up on some baked goods like chocolate rugelach, croissants, mini quiches and more. My personal favorites are the burekas (two for $5). Puffed up and buttery, these savory pastries come filled with things like spinach & feta. A potato version, which might sound dull, is elevated with a dusting of toasted sesame seeds and black cumin. Heated up, it is one of the best things I've tasted. And of course there is the shop's famous chocolate babka with a bit of chocolate in every bite. It recently won a babka bake-off against Sadelle's in SoHo.
The chef leading the operation is Uri Scheft who up until now had been running Lehamim Bakery in Tel Aviv. His walnut bread, challah and olive loaf are fast-becoming legendary. In other words, Breads Bakery really rocks.
