Cititour Review:

China Green is a Dim Sum house in Hell's Kitchen on a street known as Restaurant Row.  The setting is simple, but the Sichuan cuisine can be fiery.  There are plenty of options, including many more subtle dishes.

Most people start with dumplings offered in several varieties; pork and crabmeat, Shanghai pan fried soup dumplings, steamed shrimp and spicy tiny dumplings served Sichuan style.  Be forewarned, dishes marked spicy do not hold back on the heat.

We opted for some lamb dumplings dunked in a ginger-soy mixture.  Very nice.   It was followed by a fresh pork pie, which resembles a bun, but crunchier.  The filling had the flavor of mild Chinese sausage.  Wuhan Dry Noodle is a bowl of delicate noodled topped with a spicy sesame sauce, but nowhere near as hot as the Chengdu spicy spare ribs.  These riblets cooked are stewed until the meat falls off the bone.  The surrounding sauce is awash in whole peppercorns, chilies and fragrant spices, many packing heat.  It's a powerful dish.

Other dishes worth seeking out include braised pumpkin with ginger and scallion, sauteed pork with radish, braised short ribs and duck cooked two ways; Beijing style or Sichuan smoked tea duck.

The main reason to like this place is you can keep coming back and try something you've never tried before as the chefs prepare it right before your eyes from an open-air kitchen.
