Cititour Review:

A French sandwich makes its debut in Midtown.  Croque Monsieur is dedicated solely to France's version of the grilled cheese and the results are tasty. Sandwiches are ordered on a first-name basis, like the Mr. Charley, Mr. James and Mr. George.

It tried a Mr. Henry, a classic croque made with cheese, in this case gruyere, Jambon de Paris (ham), on Amy's sourdough bread. It was cooked until golded brown with cheese oozing from the center with a layer of bechamel sauce.  It was quite good.  Other cheeses are offered, including can a French raclette, fontina and a house blend.  A sister sandwich, called Madame Anais, gets an egg on top.  We counted a total of 17 croques on the menu, including one with mushroom ragout, a French version of a tuna melt and another made with roasted turkey, fresh sage, provolone cheese and cranberry sauce. Breakfast and dessert croques are also served along with a nice assortment of coffee drinks.

The restaurant itself has an inviting café feel with tiled floors and antique counters with marble tops.  Seating is limited with just a handful of window seats.  We found the service to be friendly and polite.
