Cititour Review:

There are some places that you instantly love.  Cubana Cafe is one of them with its colorful tablecloths, tiled floors and pictures of beautiful women puffing on Cuban cigars.  The menu a just as colorful.

We stopped in for a quick bite for lunch.  The pressed Cuban Sandwich is outstanding; packed with roast pork, ham and swiss with a chipotle mayo.  Very delicious, and a steal at $7.50.  The Palomillo hanger steak sandwich ($8.50) is also quite good served with a lively chimichuri with a splash of lime.   Fried plantains arrived nice and crisp with a side of mango salsa for dipping.

Also on the menu, appetizers liked coconut breaded shrimp ($6) and Rellena de papa; think potato croquettes stuffed with ground beef and served with a tomato salsa ($4.50).  Entrees include oven roasted red snapper served with a sweet plantain puree ($14.00), Poblano chiles stuffed with shrimps and calamari ($11.50) and Arroz con pollo (half roasted chicken) with rice and beans ($9).

There are two desserts on a the menu; a traditional flan and Tres Leche, a sponge cake soaked in three types of milk and spiked with cinnamon. It's ultra sweet and ultra good!
