Cititour Review:
Daniel Boulud's db Bistro offers the best of both worlds. Up front is red, loud and noisy, while the back is a cool muted gray for a more formal dining experience. In between you'll find a really strange bar where people not fortunate enough to have reservations sit and eat. The service is impeccable and the food outstanding. For starters, a venison pate with figs and blueberries accompanied by mescaline greens with a vinaigrette dressing. The anchovy olive spread is also wonderful. And the steak tartare with waffle weave potato chips is awesome. In a sign of things to come the women at our table ordered beef, filet mignon, while the men went for the herb crusted halibut. The filet mignon was "melts in your mouth" perfect and came exactly as requested. The signature dish is a ground sirloin burger stuffed with braised short ribs and fois gras. For dessert, a strawberry crème brûlée or a warm chocolate torte served with a scoop of vanilla and chocolate ice cream. But it will cost you. Dinner for four, with a bottle of wine and tip, came in at $400.
