Daddies, from the folks behind Lil Frankies, is drawing a huge crowd to its new pizzeria on Hudson Street. The restaurant is currently operating out of a tiny storefront with a silver and gold, wood-fired oven as the centerpiece.
But don’t be too upset. It appears the pizzeria is poised to take over two adjacent stores. In the meantime, there is ample outdoor space and curbside dining.
The menu is quite adventurous with pizzas as the centerpiece. Look for pies like Pizza Salsiccia with house made fennel sausage, Pizza Prosciutto di Palma, and Pizza Polpettini with baby meatballs. For veggie lovers there is Pizza Ortolana with zucchini, radicchio, mushrooms and eggplant, as well as a special pie white pie topped with broccoli rabe. The pies range from $21 to $25 and the meal is cash only.
Aside from pizza, visitors will find appetizers like whole roasted eggplant (which looks exactly like it sound) and tomato bruschetta. There are salads, including a black kale Caesar, and pastas like Spaghetti Limone and Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe. For dessert, there’s Daddies Tiramisu, Hazelnut Panna Cotta and a Banana Split.
