Young, fresh and flavorful is the best way to describe Dez, a new dining destination in NoLita. Samantha Wasser, cofounder of By Chloe, is one of the forces behind the venture. The space is bright and cheery with modern lighting, wood and tiled tabletops, along with colorful banquettes. The food is classic Middle Eastern cuisine with an emphasis on vegan dishes, including roasted beets with beet hummus & pine nuts, along with fire-roasted eggplant with pomegranate and za’atar. Meat dishes also make an appearance, like Moroccan Lamb Meatballs with preserved lemon, date couscous and cilantro. There's also a Shawarma Burger on the menu. Assorted salads, bowls and flatbreads are also served. Brunch brings Honey Rose Pancakes and Halva Toast with sumac roasted strawberry jam.
