Kreuther Handcrafted Chocolate located next door to Gabriel Kreuther's flagship restaurant across from Bryant Park is offering a lot more than chocolate.
There are eye-opening pastries like the Fleur du Temps; a pistachio biscuit, white chocolate mousse with a raspberry gelée. It sort of looks like a giant jellybean. Then there is the Decadent which lives up to its name. It the ultimate chocolate lovers dessert made with chocolate brownie, dark chocolate mousse and a red fruit gelée. It's then smothered in milk chocolate and topped with chocolate crisps and chocolate crumbs. it left us speechless. But the real star of the show may be the Maple Pound Cake which is unlike any pound cake I have ever scene. It gets an infusion of pure maple syrup from three cylinders plugged into the top of the cake.
Oh, and then there are the chocolates. You can watch as they are made with care right in the front window. Traditional chocolates come in flavors like Tahitian Vanilla and Honey Saffron. There are also multi-flavors like Raspberry & Licorice; and Cherry, Vanilla and Lime. Specialty bon bons in bright, bold colors include Bananas Foster, Citrus Yogurt and Passion Fruit Caramel. Kreuther Handcrafted Chocolate also offers a nice selection of cheesecake macarons which have a creamy filling.
