Cititour Review:

Parm at Brookfield Place is no intimate affair.  This sprawling space features a u-shaped marble bar, candy-apple red booths and retro lighting.  The food is what you might expect at any old school red-sauce joint.

The bar fills up with area workers and tourists stopping in a beer or two (or maybe three).  They offer an Italian beer called Menabrea along with domestic varieties and a nice selection of wines.  Cocktails include a Hemingway Dacquiri and the Parm Manhattan made with rye, vermouth and bitters.

Starters range from baked clams to crispy zucchini and stuffed artichoke hearts.  There are salads,  including a classic Caesar and another made with arugula, figs, almonds and parmesan.  Pastas dishes abound; linguine with clam sauce, penne shrimp scampi and baked ziti served with a meat gravy to name a few.  There are also plates of eggplant and chicken parm, pork milanese and "The Ozersky," a roast beef hero with Italian fries named after food writer Josh Ozersky.

My chicken parm arrived on a seeded semolina roll.  It's a well built sandwich with two large pieces of moist, flavorful chicken and lots of red sauce and a sprig of fresh basil.  It went well with a nice glass of Pinot Noir.   The sandwiches come in two sizes ranging from $11 to $16, perfect for for families with young kids.  We spotted a few during our visit.  The dessert of choice is a triple layer ice cream cake.

We found the service at Parm to be friendly.  The setting is casual making it a good place to kick back and enjoy a nice Italian meal.
