Cititour Review:
What a fun place! I would recommend this Williamsburg spot (Roebling at Metropolitan) just for its wide and delicious array of drinks and teas, which are presented in clever teapots to be shared by the whole table. The wine list is also impressive. The dinner menus change from time to time, which is a reason to return and try something new. If you’re into fish, this is the place for you. Options include several innovative fish dishes including Salt Cod, Hake, Monkfish and Squid ($22-24). While the menu boasts fancy dishes, the prices tend to outweigh the portions. When I went, the Ravioli ($17) was the only entrée that could be requested without meat, and while it was tasty, the portion was small and left me wanting more. Though I wasn’t totally impressed by the service, the cozy environment made it worth the trip.
You’ll encounter candlelit tables, old-fashioned decorations, a sitting area/library in the back with plump leather chairs for reclining, and an intimate outdoor dining area. Something about climbing a flight of outdoor stairs to get to the entrance gives it a sense of intrigue and makes it feel like a secret spot to escape the cares of the day. I would definitely visit again just to unwind and sip a cup of steaming, aromatic tea in a corner booth.
