There are sandwiches. And then there are SANDWICHES. Salumè in SoHo rises above the rest with its truly delicious Italian paninis.
Each is meticulously prepared right before your eyes. We sampled the Felino made with thick slices of Felino salami, provolone, arugula, a healthy dose of horseradish and then drizzled with olive oil. But instead of being pressed, it's placed on warm toasted roll. It's heaven to eat and the quality of the meat supports the $11.50 price tag.
Most of Salumè's meats are imported from Italy. Prosciutto di Parma is served up with buffalo mozzarella ($13.50). Speck gets a mix of fontina cheese and roasted peppers ($12.50), while the Coppa is combined with pecorino, fennel and an olive sauce ($11).
Desserts include a rasberry tart, tiramisu and chocolate salami. Salume is also open for breakfast.
