Every now and then you need to splurge; to share in life's indulgences. It's in those instances that you might want to consider the extravagance of Sho Shaun Hergatt, a new restaurant at the Setai Hotel in the Financial District. The space is sexy and sleek with different rooms offer unique dining experiences. The first thing you'll notice is the iridescent Black Bar made of mother of pearl, and the restaurant's 550 bottle Wine Gallery. Here you'll find a Tasting Room, and a main dining area that is handsome yet elegant with Brazilian walnut and Terrazzo floors that intermingle with its Thai silk walls. The warm glow of candles and fresh cut flowers seal the deal. The menu is French with Asian accents, inspired by Chef Shaun Hergatt who drew rave reviews at the Setai in South Beach, and more recently at Atelier. Hergatt's menu is daring and exotic, and just what New York City needs. Appetizers include Salt Pressed “Petuna” Tasmanian Ocean Trout with Nashi Pear and Kalamansi Dressing and Zucchini Blossoms filled with Blue Prawns, Lemongrass and Kaffir Lime Leaf Scented Sambal. Entrées surprise the palate with a savory combination of East and West flavors in dishes such as Thai Pepper Dusted Beef with Glazed Beef Cheek and Pearl Onion Soubise, Slow Poached Halibut with Silky Celeriac, White Asparagus and Black Truffle and Maine Lobster “Poêlé” with English Peas, Saffron and Verjus Emulsion. Sho Shaun Hergatt offers a two-course Prix Fixe menu for $57 and three courses for $69. Breakfast and lunch are also served. The dress is business casual. Reservations and walk-ins accepted.
