One day I found myself doing some "Soul" searching in midtown. My hungering for some fresh Southern cooking took me to Soul Fixins' on West 34th Street. The restaurant itself is small with just a handful of cafe style tables up front. But what the restaurant lacks in space it makes up with taste. Soul Fixins' serves up some of the city's best ribs. Smothered in a thick smokey sauce, the ribs literally melt in your mouth. But eating them can be a bit of chore and be sure to keep lots of napkins handy (takeout is another option). The fried chicken is also a winner with its crispy coating served up with mashed potatoes and spicy collard greens. Top it off with a piece of homemade sweet potato pie. Uh oh, I think I'm getting hungry again! You can't beat the price with dinner for two coming in at around 20 bucks.
