When Tacombi popped on the scene in NoLita it was an instant hit serving tacos from a retro VW mini-bus. Now, it's making a stop at the new Gansevoort Market.
It's truly amazing that anyone can cook in such tight quarters. I mean talk about getting to know your co-worker. These guys are pretty much on top of each other. So, it's nice to know that the food leaving the bus is still top notch.
A beef taco, costing $3.95, comes with a large scoop of sauteed ground beef atop two soft tortillas which can be quickly transformed into two tacos. Not a bad deal in a pricey part of town. The tacos are topped with a nice salsa verde, but the meat is a bit on the tame side. If you are looking for a spicy taco you might have to request additional hot sauce. Chicken and pork tacos are also sold at this cute little stand along with fresh guacamole, quesadillas and Mexican-style drinks.
You can eat in the market which has a nice open-air dining section, or better yet, pack some tacos to go and have a picnic on the nearby High Line. Either way, you won't be disappointed
