Cititour Review:

No soup for you! The Original SoupMan is back with a new Manhattan location. Al Yeganeh, who inspired the "Soup Episode" on Seinfeld has set up shop on 42nd Street, just off Fifth Avenue. But you won't find the so-called "Soup Nazi" slinging insults at customers who dawdle on the line. Instead, these folks are downright polite. Maybe too polite. You kind of want them to yell at you, or give you the evil eye, just in the spirit of things. On our visit, the line wasn't long, but steady and The SoupMan's signiture lobster bisque was already sold out. We gave three soups a try. The Veal Goulash was rich and thick and spiced to the hilt with nice chunks of veal. The Manhattan Clam Chowder had a generous supply of clams in a rich tomato broth. My favorite was the Butternut Squash, a thick, earthy soup with traces of ginger and orange peel. It was quite refreshing and different. Now if they could just learn to yell a bit!
