With several locations in New York City, Vin Sur Vingt is known for its small plates and French wines. The cafe inside Todd English's classy food hall at The Plaza Hotel has a casual feel. People can cozy up to the bar or sit at one of several sharing tables scattered throughout this rather tight space.
The menu is decidedly French offering a nice assortment of charcuterie, including duck pate on toast, and country ham with pickles. There are seasonal soups, and Boeuf Bourgnion in a rich red wine sauce with fingerling potatoes and carrots. It arrives in its own mini crock pot. There are traditional French sandwiches like the Croque Monsieur and Madame, along with pulled pork served with a tangy house-made BBQ sauce and pickles. Be sure to order the mac & cheese topped with crunchy bread crumbs. It's addictive. Desserts include a classic apple Tarte Tartin and and warm chocolate cake with salted caramel and whipped cream.
And, of course, there is an extensive wine list spanning the many regions of France made from organic grapes. Prices start in the $40 dollar range for a bottle up to several hundred. We liked everything about Vin Sur Vingt, including its friendly staff.
