Yoon Haeundae Galbi is a one-of-a-kind Korean restaurant. Owner Bobby Yoon is continuing a family tradition by offering an updated version of the restaurant his grandfather opened in 1964. The Korean barbecue restaurant specializes in "galbi" or short ribs. The ribs are prepared with a special "Haeundae" cut designed to tenderize even the toughest of meats. The method relies on a cross-hatch pattern. The meat is then lightly marinated and served with a special dipping sauce made from meat jus. Executive chef Anna So is also recreating authentic Korean dishes like Busan Neighborhood Pancakes made with a batter infused with "gochugaru" chile powder and topped with egg, shrimp and sirloin. Other dishes include short rib stew, mackerel over rice and potato noodles simmered in beef stock until the juices soak in. Cocktails made with 100% rice-distilled soju are also offered. Yoon Haeundae Galbi calls its concept "modern yet traditional" offering a nod to the future with a bow to the past.
