DUB Pies offers a taste of "down under" on the Brooklyn waterfront. This cafe/bakery known for its Australian and New Zealand-style meat pies is a great alternative to a burger and at under five bucks, quite a steal, especially for young families with little ones in tow. We saw quite a few on our visit. A classic Shepherd's Pie comes topped with perfectly whipped mashed potatoes and is almost too pretty to eat. But dive in for the pieces of beef cooked in a savory sauce. DUB Pies calls it the perfect "pub grub" and we'd have to agree. We also tried the Chicken Pie. Think classic chicken pot pie with tender slices of chicken, potato, onion and carrots in a thick chicken gravy. DUB Pies also makes a Steak and Cheese Pie, a Curry Vegetarian Pie for veggie lovers, and for breakfast - a bacon, egg and cheese pie. All come with a flaky and quite buttery tasting shell making it extremely difficult to eat just one!
